Nyoma Airbase: Prime Minister Narendra Modi can inaugurate the new Madah Airfield in Nyoma, East Ladakh in the second week of October 2025. This airfield is built at an altitude of 13,700 feet. It is only 30 kilometers from the China border and about 200 km from Leh. It has been created by Border Rhodes Organization. Let us know that this airfield will be the highest airfield in India and the fifth highest airfield in the world. According to defense and security sources, the airfield is fully prepared and the Prime Minister will inaugurate it in October.
Military strength will be strong in this area
Nyoma Advanced Landing Ground will further strengthen India’s military strength in this sensitive area. It is built at the airfield altitude and is designed to fly all types of fighter jets and heavy aircraft. Soldiers and military equipment can be sent early in any emergency due to being near LAC. Let us know that this airfield has been prepared in less than three years. It can fly without pilot drones, rotary-wheel aircraft, fixed-wing aircraft, heavy transport aircraft such as C-17 globemaster III and fighter jets such as sukhoi-30mki.
Defense Minister Rajnath Singh laid the foundation in 2023
According to experts, Newoma Airfield will be an important strategic and logistic center for the Indian Air Force. With this, the presence of the army in the area will remain fast and long. In September 2023, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh laid the virtual foundation of this project of ₹ 218 crore. He had said that this airbase would prove to be a game changer for the armed forces. The project was approved in 2021.
Nyoma Aterustrip remained closed for several decades after the 1962 Indo-China War. It was again activated in 2009 when the Indian Air Force aircraft AN-32 landed here for the first time. In 2020, when the tension on the Indo-China border increased, the Indian Air Force used its transport aircraft C-30J, AN-32 and helicopter Apache and Chinook to support the soldiers deployed beyond Nyoma.
