Now you will not have to wait for many days for important parcels sent from the post office. The government is going to start a new and faster delivery service, under which your parcel will reach the designated cities in just 24 hours. This new facility will especially benefit those people who have to send important documents, goods or parcels immediately.
The new ’24 Speed Post’ service is being launched by the Postal Department on 17 March 2026. This service will be launched by Union Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia and Minister of State for Communications Chandra Shekhar Pemmasani. The program will be held at Rang Bhavan Auditorium located at Akashvani Bhawan, New Delhi, where many senior officials of the department will also be present.
These people will get benefit
The parcels sent under the new service are targeted to be delivered the next day i.e. within 24 hours. Initially this facility will be available in six big cities of the country. People of these cities will get benefit from it. These include Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Bengaluru and Hyderabad. In this new system, not only 24-hour service but also the option of delivery within 48 hours will be available. Under this, parcels will be processed on priority and sent by air, so that timely delivery can be ensured.
Parcel will be received through OTP
To make delivery more secure, OTP based system will also be provided in it. That is, the person taking the parcel will get an OTP, only after telling which the parcel will be given. Apart from this, customers will continue to get complete information about the parcel through SMS alerts and online tracking.
Refund will be given if the order is late
Many special facilities have also been added to it for business customers. Options like free pickup on large orders, pay later facility (BNPL), API integration and centralized billing will be provided. The special thing is that if the delivery is not made on time, there will be a provision to get the money back to the customers. With this new initiative of the government, India Post’s parcel delivery service is expected to become faster and more reliable than before.
