Steps taken keeping in mind the cleanliness of passengers: Railway Minister

Till now, passengers in AC coaches of all long distance trains of Indian Railways were provided blankets, pillows and white sheets for sleeping. In some trains, white towels were also provided for the convenience of passengers. According to Indian Railways sources, the white blankets used by passengers in AC coaches are not cleaned regularly. They are washed only once or twice a month. Because of this the white blankets of AC coaches remain dirty.

Keeping in mind the cleanliness of the passengers, printed blankets will now be given. There will also be covers for all the sheets. There are indications that soon it will be started in all the trains of the country. In a notification issued by the Railways, it has been said that this will promote cleanliness, uniformity and better on-board experience.
