‘The Shadow’ app has been launched in Uttar Pradesh for the safety of daughters. This app, created by the students of UP State Institute of Forensic Sciences, has features like parent approval system, SOS alert and QR code gate pass.
The government is continuously taking new steps regarding the safety of daughters in Uttar Pradesh. Another initiative has emerged in this direction, where an attempt has been made to strengthen the security of girl students through technology. As per the intention of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, a special mobile app “The Shadow” has been launched in Uttar Pradesh. This app has been prepared by the students of Uttar Pradesh State Institute of Forensic Sciences (UPSIFS).
Its purpose is especially to strengthen the safety and educational activities of girl students on a single platform. Officials of the institute say that this app will be connected with every student like his/her “shadow” and will provide many important facilities related to security.
‘Parent-first approval’ will increase security
According to Chiranjeev Mukherjee, Deputy Director of UPSIFS, “The Shadow” app has been developed by the B.Tech students of the institute itself. This app not only provides information related to studies, but also keeps a special eye on the safety of the students. Through this app, entry, exit, leave permission and other activities in the campus are recorded digitally. Due to this, the institute administration keeps getting real-time information.

The special thing about the app is its ‘Parent-First Approval System’. If a student wants to go out of the campus or needs any special permission, first the approval of her parents will be required. This provides additional strength to the safety of girl students and also increases the confidence of parents.
Study and monitoring on one platform
Information related to students’ attendance, assignments, exam results and academic progress will also be available in this app. With this, students, teachers and parents will remain connected to the same platform. The institute believes that this will increase transparency in studies and also fix the responsibilities of the students.
SOS system will provide immediate help
An SOS emergency call system is also provided in “The Shadow” app. If a student feels unsafe, she can send an instant alert by just pressing a button. The information about this alert immediately reaches the institute administration and parents, so that help can be provided quickly in case of emergency.
Strict monitoring will be done through QR code gate pass
QR code based digital gate pass system has also been included in the app. Through this, people coming and going on the campus can be monitored and unauthorized entry will be stopped. This app has been developed by B.Tech students Harsh and Aditya Mishra under the guidance of Neha Singh, Assistant Professor of the institute.
Technology will strengthen security
Officials of the institute say that “The Shadow” app is an important step towards strengthening the security system through technology. This app will work like a digital companion for the students, who will constantly keep an eye on their studies, safety and activities. Through this, hope is being expressed for a new beginning towards making daughters safe and self-reliant.
