The second big change is related to promoting better and meaningful content for teens. YouTube has issued new guidelines for this. The third change is related to making account management easier for families. Soon YouTube is going to introduce a new sign-up system.
1. Screen Time Control
Now parents will be able to decide for how long their child watches YouTube Shorts. For this, time for scrolling shorts can be decided. If parents wish, they can also set this timer to zero completely. That means, if the child is studying or has to concentrate on homework, then shorts can be taken off completely. At the same time, if the family is going somewhere by car, then the time for watching videos on YouTube can be fixed at 30 or 60 minutes. YouTube says that such a feature has been introduced for the first time in the industry. This gives parents complete control over the shorts content of their children. Apart from this, parents will also be able to set reminders for sleeping time and taking breaks in between as per their need.
2. Content is teen-friendly
The second big change is related to promoting better and meaningful content for teens. YouTube has issued new guidelines for this. Its aim is to ensure that teens see content that is not only fun, but is also age-appropriate and educational. This guide has been prepared in collaboration with youth experts, university professors and organizations like the American Psychological Association. Under this, more content related to Khan Academy, Crash Course and education will be shown to teens. Along with this, YouTube will also make changes in its recommendation system, so that positivity and informative content comes to the fore instead of low quality or distracting videos.
3. Account Management
The third change is related to making account management easier for families. Soon YouTube is going to introduce a new sign-up system. With this, parents will be able to easily create a new account for their children. With this, one can switch between Kid Account, Teen Account and Parent Account in just a few taps in the mobile app. The benefit of this will be that whoever is watching YouTube at home will get the right content and right settings according to his age.
