Aadhaar Update: The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has released an updated and clear list of documents to make the process of Aadhaar enrollment and improvement more easier and transparent.
It has been clearly stated in this new guideline that which documents will be considered valid for making Aadhaar or any kind of improvement in it. Let’s know in detail.
Aadhaar Update: See List of Documents
According to the new notification issued by UIDAI, documents like passport, voter ID, driving license as well as electricity, water and gas bills will be valid as evidence of identification and address. Apart from this, the birth certificate has also been included in the list of valid documents.
Birth certificate is necessary
It has been said in the notification that it is necessary to give birth certificate for Indian and NRI (NRI) children born after 1 October 2023. After this change, now the Aadhaar of these children will not be enrolled without birth certificate.
Also, if a person wants to change the name, date of birth or gender in his Aadhaar, he will have to submit the valid documents prescribed for it. These documents include government gazette, medical certificate related to surgery for transgender, and school certificates.
These Aadhaar numbers will be invalid
If more than one Aadhaar number has been issued to a person, then that Aadhaar number will be considered valid which is first issued and in which biometric information is recorded. All other Aadhaar numbers will be rejected and can be canceled. Even if there is no biometric data in any basis, the priority will be given to the Aadhaar issued earlier. A list of separate necessary documents has been set for OCI card holders, foreign nationals and citizens of Nepal/Bhutan.
