Now foreign guests will also ‘scan and pay’
AI Impact Summit 2026: A unique confluence of technology is being seen in the ‘India AI Impact Summit 2026’ started in New Delhi. On one hand, while world leaders are discussing Artificial Intelligence, on the other hand, India has also taken a big step to prove its digital payment power. National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) has launched ‘UPI One World’ wallet facility for foreign guests. This facility is no less than a boon for thousands of international travelers visiting India who want to avoid the hassle of currency exchange or carrying cash.
UPI will work without Indian bank account or mobile number
Often the biggest challenge while traveling abroad is payment, but the guests coming to this summit will not have to face this problem. Through ‘UPI One World’ wallet, now delegates from more than 40 countries will be able to make payments in India just like the locals. The most important thing is that to avail this facility they neither need an Indian bank account nor an Indian mobile number.
According to the statement of NPCI, this trial project gives freedom to foreign guests to make person-to-merchant (P2M) payments. Be it enjoying the street food of Delhi or making any purchase related to Indian culture, foreign tourists will now be able to make payment through just one scan. This ‘Made in India’ technology is not only secure, but also ensures instant payments, making the passenger experience even more memorable.
Easy accessibility to airports and summit venues
If you are wondering how foreign guests can avail this facility, then the process has been kept very simple. This wallet is available through authorized PPI (Prepaid Payment Instrument) issuers. Passengers will get this facility as soon as they land at New Delhi International Airport. Apart from this, special arrangements have also been made at Bharat Mandapam, the main venue of the summit. There, NPCI pavilion has been built at stall number 14.16 in hall number 14, from where visitors can activate this wallet.
In this digital wallet, passengers can load money as per their convenience and make payment by scanning the QR code through PPI-UPI application. With this, they will not need to carry cash everywhere or get entangled in the complexities of foreign currency exchange (Forex). Also, if there is money left in the wallet, the facility to transfer it back to the original payment source as per foreign exchange rules is also provided.
Service gets activated in a jiffy, this is the method
Using this service is as easy as using any social media app. Through the CheqUPI app powered by Transcorp, passengers can make digital payments in just minutes. Its process is as follows:
First of all the passenger has to download the CheqUPI app from Play Store or App Store. After this an application form has to be filled, in which basic information like mobile number, name and email has to be given. For security reasons, it is mandatory to upload documents like passport and visa. To ensure identity, a selfie has to be taken in the app. After this, the user sets his UPI PIN and gets a unique UPI ID.
After this, passengers can load money into the ‘UPI One World’ wallet using their international debit or credit card. Once this process is complete, the app is completely ready for payments. Passengers can load up to Rs 25,000 at a time and are allowed to load the wallet maximum twice in a month, i.e. the total limit is up to Rs 50,000.
