With the Asia Cup 2025 just a few weeks away, the selection panel led by Ajit Agarkar is set to announce India’s squad. Rajasthan Royals (RR) have shared a video of all-rounder Riyan Parag ahead of the squad selection for the tournament, which is scheduled to take place from September 9 to September 28.

A total of eight teams will compete in the 2025 Asia Cup in the UAE. India are in Group A alongside Pakistan, Oman, and the UAE, while Group B includes Sri Lanka, Hong Kong, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan. Suryakumar Yadav is likely to captain the Men in Blue, with the squad set to be announced on August 19.

The 22-year-old, who impressed with his performances in the last IPL season, has been on the selectors’ radar. He achieved the remarkable feat of hitting six consecutive sixes in a match against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in IPL 2025.

Apart from his IPL contributions, Parag has also demonstrated his potential on the international stage. Former Indian cricketer Harbhajan Singh even included him in his predicted squad for the Asia Cup 2025.

Riyan Parag has arrived at the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru for his fitness assessment ahead of the Duleep Trophy. He will play for East Zone, led by Ishan Kishan. Abhimanyu Easwaran will serve as deputy, while Mohammed Shami and Mukesh Kumar are also included in the squad.

The 22-year-old all-rounder has played for India in one ODI and nine T20Is. He scored only 15 runs on his ODI debut. Parag has scored 106 runs in T20Is at an impressive strike rate of 151.4.

This year’s Duleep Trophy, set to begin on August 28 at the CoE in Bengaluru, will follow the zonal format with squads selected by their respective zonal committees. East Zone is scheduled to take on North Zone in the tournament opener.
