What is Rural Livelihood Mission: Varanasi tops the state in the implementation of National Rural Livelihood Mission. More than 1.38 lakh women are becoming self-reliant through various employment by joining self-help groups.
Varanasi, November 16 The women of Kashi have come out from the threshold of their homes and have become the topper in Uttar Pradesh, increasing the income of their families and also giving impetus to the rural economy. Under Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana, National Rural Livelihood Mission, Varanasi is once again at the top in implementing schemes in the state and promoting women. Varanasi is at the top in the October 2025 ranking of the state, whereas in the last 6 months, Varanasi has been at the top 4 times and has made it to the top ten twice.
Report is prepared on the basis of 37 indicators
Chief Development Officer Prakhar Kumar Singh said that under Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana, National Rural Livelihood Mission, Varanasi is once again at the first place in the ranking of October-2025 in the implementation of the scheme in the state. For ranking, a report is prepared on 37 indicators at the state level. Varanasi has been in the top-four times in the last 6 months. In Varanasi, in relation to the annual action plan, excellent work has been done in connecting women with groups, providing revolving funds, linking them with livelihoods, formation of productive groups, selection of Bank Sakhi and Udyam Sakhi, providing bank loans to groups, profile of village organization and providing individual internal loans. Deputy Commissioner (Self-Employment) Varanasi Pawan Kumar Singh said that more than one lakh thirty-eight thousand women have joined 11879 groups in Varanasi, who are engaged in various types of livelihood activities like agriculture, animal husbandry, vegetable farming, flower farming, grocery, BC Sakhi, Vidyut Sakhi, Take Home Ration Plant, Dona Pattal, Beauty Parlour, Tailoring. By associating with embroidery, silk sarees, Char Murabba, Kashi Prerna Cafe, Jute Bags, Drone Sakhi etc., she is playing an important role in taking herself and her family forward.
New efforts are being made to connect with employment
To continuously provide market to the products produced by women, Yogi government is participating in Saras Mela and other departmental fairs, connecting it with online market, Kashi Prerna Mart is being opened. New efforts are being made in the district with the help of Livelihood Mission and District Administration to connect women with employment. A campaign is being run in the district to make women Bima Sakhi, to connect women with livelihood through CSR fund, to connect them with honey bee farming, makhana farming, goat rearing etc.
Yogi government provided both income and respect
Anju Devi, financial literacy instructor of Ekta Sankul Samiti development block Arajiline, says that the Yogi government has provided both income and respect. By joining the group, women are doing two to three jobs and are creating their own identity. Women who were afraid of going to the bank are now availing banking services easily.
Woman making pickles and jam is doing business
Amrita Devi of Mahila Shakti Self Help Group, who makes pickles and marmalade in Chiraigaon development block, says that the double engine government and CM Yogi have changed the lives of women. Women had skills but were not able to work due to poor economic conditions. The government scheme has enhanced the talent of women.
