UP Ghumantu Jati Development: Education, housing, livelihood and social empowerment schemes are being implemented under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for the welfare and development of the disciplined and nomadic castes in Uttar Pradesh.
Residential schools for Vimukt Jati: The Uttar Pradesh government is constantly trying to bring and uplift the most backward classes of society in the mainstream. The aim of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is to ensure access to government schemes to the free and nomadic castes and their socio-economic development should be accelerated. In this episode, CM Yogi will mention the developmental efforts made for these castes in the state in a program organized on Sunday on the occasion of ‘Vimukta Caste Day’.
There will be extensive dialogue in participation building

There will be a detailed discussion on the upliftment, education, livelihood and social justice of the Vimukt and Nomadic castes in the presence of.

Vision of CM Yogi: Bringing “development in mainstream”
The main focus of the Chief Minister is to bring these communities to the “mainstream of development”. Under the policy of ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas’, many schemes have been implemented in the fields of education, residence and livelihood. The purpose of celebrating ‘Vimukta Caste Day’ is also that the focus of the society should be attracted to the rights and dignity of these communities and public awareness should be increased for their welfare.
Status of free -free and nomadic castes in Uttar Pradesh
According to the list of Vimukta, Nomadic and Semi -Nomadic Tribes Commission formed under the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, in Uttar Pradesh:
- Number of disciplined communities/castes: 59
- Nomadic communities/Number of castes: 29
These communities are mostly landless or agricultural laborers and live in raw houses/huts. Major groups include Nat, Banjara, Bawri, Sansi, Kanjar and Kalvelia.
Government’s efforts in education, housing and livelihood
The state government has taken several important steps for the educational and economic upliftment of these castes:
Educational effort:
- A total of 9 Jai Prakash Narayan Sarvodaya Vidyalaya in Rampur, Farrukhabad, Sarnath, Chandapur, Lucknow, Gorakhpur, Gonda, Duddhi (Sonbhadra) and Hasanpur (Sultanpur)
- 2 residential schools operated on grant in Prayagraj and Balaganj
- 101 ashram system operated schools
- Free food, books and school des in hostels
Housing and Land:
- Lease of residence and arable land allotted in Kanpur (Kalyanpur), Lakhimpur Kheri (Sahabganj), Moradabad (Fazalpur)
- 264 admission in state scheduled caste hostels
The goal of all these measures is to permanently include the disciplined and nomadic castes in the mainstream of society permanently.
