The new picture presented by government figures is quite shocking. The richest area of the country is neither the country’s financial capital Mumbai nor the millennium city Gurugram.
Recently, the Economic Survey data released before the budget of 2024-25 has completely changed the ‘wealth map’ of the country. In this list, a district has won, whose name is not discussed as much at the national level as the cities of Delhi-NCR.
Rangareddy district of Telangana gets number 1 crown
According to the data of Economic Review, Rangareddy district of Telangana has emerged as the richest district in the country at present. This is not just a figure, but a proof of the rapid economic development taking place in South India. Rangareddy district has defeated all the giants of the country in terms of per capita income.
The average per capita income of the people living here has been recorded at Rs 11.46 lakh. If we understand this in simple language, then on an average every person here is earning about one lakh rupees per month. The main reason for the prosperity of this district is its strong industrial structure. Some of the country’s largest and famous tech parks are present in Rangareddy. Apart from this, this area has become a huge hub of biotech and pharmaceutical companies. The presence of big industries has skyrocketed the level of employment and income here.
The dominance of Delhi-NCR is also no less
Even though Rangareddy is at number one, the shine of the cities of North India, especially Delhi-NCR, has not faded. In this race of richness, Gurugram of Haryana stands firmly at second place. Gurugram is considered synonymous with luxury lifestyle. Skyscraper residential buildings, world class malls and offices of multinational companies are the identity of this city. People from every corner of the country come here to fulfill their dreams. According to statistics, the per capita income in Gurugram is Rs 9 lakh.

Whereas, if we talk about Uttar Pradesh, Gautam Buddha Nagar, which we know better as Noida, has emerged as the third richest city in the country. Noida has made incredible progress in the last few decades. Due to good connectivity and infrastructure, this city has become the home of many big companies. The per capita income here is Rs 8.48 lakh. This figure shows that Noida is giving impetus to the economic wheel of not only Uttar Pradesh but the entire country.
Solan’s dominance in Himachal Pradesh
There are some names in this list which may surprise you. Generally we think that Bengaluru, being an IT hub, would be at the top, but Bengaluru Urban seems to be a little behind in this race. The per capita income in this city, which is called the ‘Silicon Valley’ of India, is Rs 8.03 lakh. Amidst the modern lifestyle and natural beauty here, the IT sector has filled the pockets of people.
But, the most interesting name is Solan of Himachal Pradesh. Solan, blessed with calm and natural beauty, has given a tough competition to even a metropolis like Bengaluru in terms of earnings. The per capita income in Solan, known as ‘Mushroom City’, is Rs 8.10 lakh, which is more than Bengaluru. Solan is not only known for its mushroom production but also earns well from tourism due to tourist places like Shoolini Mata Temple and Karol Tibba.
