Norwegian Air has honored its playful social media bet with British Airways by temporarily changing its Instagram profile picture to feature the British airline’s logo.
This gesture came after England triumphed over Norway with a score of 2-1 in their World Cup quarter-final match on Saturday.
Prior to the game, both airlines had engaged in a light-hearted wager, agreeing that the losing airline would adopt the winner’s logo on their Instagram for a full day. Following Norway’s loss, Norwegian Air fulfilled its commitment. They expressed their sentiments with a message stating, “While the tournament is over for us, this friendly bet will forever live in all our hearts. We wish England and British Airways all the best in the semi-final, and we sincerely hope you’ll get to bring football home!”
England Advances, Norway Makes History
Despite being down 1-0, England rallied to secure a 2-1 victory, setting up a semi-final showdown against the defending champions, Argentina. This match marked the end of Norway’s remarkable journey in the FIFA World Cup, which was their best performance to date.
The quarter-final was a historic achievement for Norway, as it was their first time reaching the last eight in World Cup history. This was also their return to the tournament after a long absence since 1998. Previously, Norway’s best results included reaching the Round of 16 in 1938 and 1998, along with a group-stage exit in the 1994 World Cup.
