Jagran Correspondent, Noida: Managing Director Krishna Karunesh will present the utility plan for Noida Metro Rail Corporation’s (NMRC) Aqua Line extension at the Public Investment Board (PIB) meeting today.
The proposed route, extending from Noida Sector-51 to Greater Noida West Sector-4, will provide metro access to over five lakh residents living across various societies in Greater Noida West. Once approved, the project will improve connectivity and reduce daily traffic congestion between Noida, Greater Noida, and Gaur Chowk.
5 Metro Stations On 7.5 KM Route
The proposed 7.5-kilometre extension line will connect Noida and Greater Noida West, operating separately from the RRTS. The line will include five stations:
– Sector 61
– Sector 70
– Sector 122
– Sector 123
– Greater Noida Sector 4 (Kisan Chowk)
While operating separately from the RRTS, the line will connect to the proposed Ghaziabad-Jewar Airport RRTS corridor. This line will create a loop, making travel significantly easier across Noida, Greater Noida, Ghaziabad, and Delhi, while allowing Noida residents to reach the Jewar Airport via both Metro and RRTS.
Funding
The estimated cost of the metro project is over Rs 1,500 crore, which will be funded jointly through equity contributions from the Central Government, the Uttar Pradesh Government, and the Noida and Greater Noida authorities.
Timeline
Karunesh noted that because the project is under the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs and NMRC is a Central Government undertaking, construction will begin after presentation and take about two years to complete.
