Greater Noida: Shocking new details have emerged in the Nikki Bhati dowry murder case, deepening the outrage over her brutal killing. Police sources have revealed that Nikki’s husband and prime accused, Vipin, had been planning to marry another woman from the Dadri area, even as he allegedly conspired to murder his wife.
Vipin was planning remarriage after killing Nikki
Police confirmed that Vipin was already facing a case for assaulting another woman. That case was registered at Jarcha Police Station in October 2024, after a fight broke out when the woman came to know about his marriage. According to sources, Nikki and her sister had once caught Vipin with this woman. Following a quarrel, Vipin allegedly assaulted her, leading to an FIR. During questioning in the current case, Vipin admitted to having an affair with the woman, who is now likely to be questioned by investigators.
Electrocution, torture: Not the first attempt on Nikki’s life
Investigators said Vipin had made several attempts on Nikki’s life earlier, including once trying to electrocute her. The murder on Thursday night is now being seen as part of a larger plot.
Nikki Bhati, 26, was brutally attacked and set on fire by her husband and in-laws at their home in Sirsa village on Thursday night, allegedly over dowry demands. Disturbing videos, filmed by the victim’s elder sister, show Nikki being dragged by the hair and beaten by Vipin and his mother. In one clip, she is seen stumbling down the stairs, engulfed in flames, before collapsing.
Vipin and his mother, Daya, were arrested on Saturday, while his father and brother were held on Monday. All four have been booked under provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for murder, assault and attempted offences. Police are also seeking technical help to retrieve data that Vipin deleted from his phone before his arrest.
The fresh revelations underscore the chilling premeditation behind Nikki’s killing and have sparked renewed calls for strict action.
