Noida International Airport: Noida International Airport will become the biggest MRO hub of the country. PM Modi laid its foundation stone, which will increase self-reliance in aircraft maintenance. Currently 85% of the planes go abroad, now repairs here will reduce costs and increase employment.

Jewar, 28 March. Noida International Airport of Uttar Pradesh is going to usher in a new era in the aviation sector of the country. A state-of-the-art Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) Hub is being developed here, the foundation stone of which was laid by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday. This project is being considered a historic step towards making not only Uttar Pradesh, but the entire country self-reliant in the field of aircraft maintenance.

Self-reliance is necessary in MRO

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also said on this occasion that India is still largely dependent on foreign countries in the matter of aircraft maintenance. About 85% of the country’s aircraft are currently sent abroad for maintenance, repair and overhaul, due to which a large amount of foreign exchange goes out. Emphasizing on changing this situation, he said that it is the need of the hour to make India self-reliant in the MRO sector and for this, modern facilities are being developed across the country.

Strategic partnership with Akasa Air

The first MRO facility will be set up in collaboration with Akasa Air at the Noida Airport complex. This state-of-the-art center will create a comprehensive network of aircraft maintenance, repair and technical services, which will give new strength to the country’s aviation industry. With the development of this MRO hub, airlines companies will now have less need to send their planes abroad. This will not only save time but will also reduce operating costs significantly. With world class maintenance facilities available in India itself, the country will be able to become competitive in the global aviation service market.

Employment and skill development will get a boost

This project will generate large scale employment opportunities at the local level. The youth will get training opportunities in aircraft maintenance, aviation technology and technical services. Due to the investment-promotion policies of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, such high-tech projects are developing rapidly in the state, due to which Uttar Pradesh is becoming a center of opportunities for the youth.

Big step towards becoming an aviation and logistics hub

Noida International Airport is being developed as not just an airport but a holistic aviation and logistics hub. MRO facility is an important part of this vision, which will give the state a new identity at the national and international level. Describing the MRO sector as an important pillar of the “Atmanirbhar Bharat” campaign, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that in the coming times, India will not only service its own aircraft, but will also be able to provide services to other countries of the world.

MRO sector is emerging rapidly in India

With the establishment of this facility at Noida Airport, the MRO sector in India will develop rapidly. According to reports, its market is estimated to reach $5.7 billion by 2030. Under the Government of India’s MRO Policy 2021, domestic capabilities are being promoted through tax concessions and land lease exemptions, thereby accelerating India’s efforts to establish itself as a global MRO hub.

USA is the leading country globally

MRO facilities are an important part of major aviation hubs, with the US leading the way with the largest number of MRO companies, while the UK, France and Germany are the major hubs in Europe. In Asia-Pacific, Singapore, China, India and the Philippines, while in the Middle East, UAE are emerging as important MRO hubs.
