  • India imports nearly 60% of its LPG, primarily from the Middle East. This heavy reliance makes supply stability particularly vulnerable during geopolitical tensions, especially since about 80-90% of LPG imports pass through the Strait of Hormuz. Efforts are underway to diversify sources, including increased imports from the US and other regions.

Key Points from Indian Oil:

  • Nearly 87% of bookings are now done digitally through SMS and IVRS.
  • Deliveries are verified using DAC OTP to ensure cylinders reach the right customers.
  • 5 kg FTL cylinders are being regularly supplied to migrant labourers on valid ID proof.
  • Strict monitoring is in place to prevent black marketing and diversion of cylinders.
  • Consumers should only book LPG through official channels and prefer OTP-based delivery.

The company also warned people against believing rumours circulating on social media. It reminded everyone that filling petrol into bottles or open containers is both unsafe and illegal.

“Adequate arrangements have been made to maintain steady availability, and there is no disruption in supplies. Hence, there is no need for any concern or panic,” IndianOil added. Domestic LPG consumers remain the top priority, and the company said the situation is being closely monitored to ensure smooth supply through authorised distributors.
