War of words between TMC and BJP leaders

This incident took place in Mukundpur village of Kushida Gram Panchayat of Harishchandrapur, Malda. Tupan Das and his family, residents of that village, had a long-running dispute with some local people regarding land. It is alleged that some people were trying to illegally occupy the government land in front of his house. To maintain possession of the land, the idol of Goddess Saraswati was also placed there. There were many altercations regarding this. It is also alleged that the encroachers were being supported by TMC Panchayat Committee member Prakash Das and former head Rezaul Haq.

The family complained several times to Harishchandrapur police station, sub-division administration and district administration, but no solution was found. The deceased’s son Kishore Das, who is a civic volunteer by profession, has also expressed displeasure over the role of police in the incident. He alleges that the police work in the direction the leaders indicate. It is also alleged that the neighbors had boycotted them due to this dispute at the behest of TMC leader Prakash Das. In this situation, due to the worry of the dispute, Toupan Das fell ill and died today. But no neighbor came forward to take the body to the crematorium. The family was helpless. Knowing this, people from the nearby Muslim community came forward. The last journey of Tupan Das rested on his shoulders. All the funeral rites were also done by the people of Muslim community. This incident has become an example of humanity and brotherhood. But after the incident came to light, BJP claims that TMC is running this Talibani culture of boycott.
