Who can buy alcohol in Delhi?

A P-10 permit is granted for hosting private gatherings or celebratory events such as weddings held at farmhouses, banquet halls, motels, or parks. The permit fee is ₹10,000 for private parties, while motels, banquet halls, and farmhouses are required to pay ₹15,000.

The licence holders can purchase liquor from a maximum of three vendors. “P-10 Permit is a temporary permit given to people for purchasing liquor in bulk for private parties. But most people do not apply for licences, which makes it difficult for the government to track and generate revenues,” shared an official.

The official stated that liquor sales—both in terms of bottles and daily volume—tend to rise from October until the New Year. In the days leading up to Dussehra, people often stock up on alcohol due to the upcoming gazetted holidays. Additionally, with the wedding season underway, the department is encouraging citizens to purchase alcohol from the designated vendors using the permit.
