Tirunelveli: In a bizarre and brazen incident in Tamil Nadu’s Tirunelveli district, a thief who broke into a house in Palayapettai area left behind a mocking letter for the homeowner after finding the property devoid of significant cash or jewellery. The letter, which has since gone viral, chides the resident for their lack of valuables and their over-reliance on security cameras.
A disappointing haul and a sarcastic note
The incident unfolded when unidentified individuals broke into the house with the intent to steal. However, their search yielded only worth Rs 2,000 from hundi, with no jewellery or substantial money to be found in the house . Before leaving, the frustrated thief decided to leave a handwritten note. The letter sarcastically pointed out that there was “not a single rupee” in the house and advised the homeowner to “keep money so that next time someone comes to steal, they will not be fooled.”
Thief questions home security logic
The note took a particularly humorous and critical jab at the home’s security setup. The thief wrote, “There is no money, why so many CCTV cameras?” adding that they found the situation “funny.” Demonstrating a degree of cunning, the thief didn’t just critique the security but also neutralized it. As a final precaution, they stole the CCTV camera’s hard disk to ensure their activities were not recorded, leaving no visual evidence of their identity or their act of writing the letter itself.
The audacious letter has quickly become a topic of discussion and has been widely circulated on social media platforms, with many users sharing the thief’s unexpected critique.
