Bengali actor and politician Hiran Chatterjee’s recent marriage with model Ritika Giri has given rise to a family dispute. His daughter Niasa Chatterjee has expressed regret over this second marriage. Her mother has already termed this marriage as “illegal”, while the daughter has expressed her emotional opinion against it.
According to reports, Hiran married Ritika in a private ceremony in Varanasi, which has shocked not only his fans but also his first wife Anindita Chatterjee and his daughter. Soon after the news came out, Niasa expressed support for her mother, calling the situation extremely sad.
On Wednesday evening, Anindita and Niasa filed a complaint against Hiran and Ritika. At the police station, 19-year-old Niasa told that she came to know about her father’s second marriage through social media. He said that this incident has shaken him emotionally. “What can I say as a daughter? I found out from social media. My mother called me and said, ‘I sent you something, check your phone.’ I am seeing the pictures of my father’s wedding in front of my eyes. My mother is crying. What can a daughter say?” .
She added, “I’m telling the truth, I had no idea. I found out from social media. I’m watching my friends’ dads, and I’m watching my own dad too, and he’s doing the same.”
Later, Niyasa shared an Instagram reel of the moments she spent with her mother, along with a message expressing emotional dependence. He wrote, “You are my mother, my father, my guide and my biggest support… You are my hero, mother.”
Earlier, speaking to The Indian Express, Niasa said, “My father should have broken the news, but I found out from social media… For me, my father can only be married to my mother. I really don’t know how to deal with this situation.”
Anindita Chatterjee, who married Hiran on December 11, 2000, alleged that he suffered silently for years. “I endured torture for a long time, but I maintained silence for the sake of my daughter and my family,” she said. Refuting Ritika’s claim that she was aware of the relationship and had received the divorce notice, Anindita said, “All the allegations made by the girl are false.”
Anindita further alleged that Hiran married Ritika without legally divorcing her and claimed that he has not contacted her since the news of the marriage spread.
Hiran, born Hiranmoy Chattopadhyay, is a Bengali film actor and MLA elected to the West Bengal Assembly from Kharagpur Sadar since 2021. He is known for films like Meher Aali, Macho Mustana and Nabab Nandini.
