Nitish Reddy set to leave Sunrisers Hyderabad? Star all-rounder seeking fresh challenge – Report

New Delhi: Star India all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy is reportedly considering leaving Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026. Reddy was retained by SRH ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction last year and is a vital cog in their current squad. The all-rounder is reportedly looking for a fresh challenge in the IPL.

Reddy, who rose to the limelight after his impressive performances for SRH in IPL 2024, was retained by the franchise for Rs 6 crore last year. The young all-rounder was one of the two Indian players retained by SRH, along with Abhishek Sharma. SRH retained a total of five players ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction.

As per a report in India Today, Reddy is not happy with his current role at Sunrisers Hyderabad and is looking for a fresh challenge. He wants to leave the franchise and is considering his options. The all-rounder didn’t enjoy a great campaign for SRH in IPL 2025 as the Pat Cummins-led side failed to qualify for the playoffs.

Reddy played mainly as a batter and managed to score only 182 runs in 13 matches. He bowled only five overs throughout the tournament as his campaign was marred by injury issues. The all-rounder, who batted mostly at no.4 during his stellar season in IPL 2024, was sent to bat in the lower middle order in the IPL 2025.

As per the report, Reddy was assured by the franchise of the no.4 role in their batting line-up after his retention ahead of IPL 2025. However, the franchise later handed the role to South Africa batter Heinrich Klaasen as they wanted a more experienced player at the position. Klaasen did well for SRH at no.4 with 487 runs at a strike rate of 172.70, including a solitary century in their final game of the season.

Nitish Reddy to go in auction pool?

If Reddy does decide to leave Sunrisers Hyderabad, the franchsie will have to release the all-rounder ahead of the IPL 2026 mini auction. If Reddy enters the auction, he can become one of the most sought atfter players as a number of franchises will be interested in securing his services. Reddy, a big hitter and a handy pacer, is arguably one of the best young all-rounders India have in their ranks at present.
