BJP leader Nitin Nabin launched a scathing attack on the Gandhi family, asserting that the ‘Congress-I’ faction, founded by Indira Gandhi in 1978, actually stands for ‘Italian Congress’ rather than ‘Congress-Indira.
‘ He described the party’s electoral defeats as a ‘purification’ process carried out by citizens.
Speaking at the ‘Save Democracy, Remove Anarchy’ march in Delhi’s Chandni Chowk, Nabin, accompanied by Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta and other BJP leaders, emphasized that Indian democracy is secure under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership. He stated, “If democracy is in the hands of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, then it is absolutely safe. Citizens know that 140 crore people of the country are the family of the son of the soil of the country – PM Modi.”
Nabin criticized Rahul Gandhi, accusing him of disregarding the Constitution despite carrying its copy. He warned that the Congress party would be ‘wiped out’ if it continued to follow Gandhi’s directives. He drew parallels to the Emergency era, reminding the Congress that attempts to undermine democracy have always been met with electoral punishment from the public.
He further alleged that Congress opposed the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls to protect its ‘political interests’ by maintaining ‘ghost voter lists.’ Nabin likened this ‘purification’ of voter lists to traders updating their ‘Bahi Khata’ on Diwali, ensuring transparency and credibility. He also recalled the BJP’s efforts in hoisting the Tricolour at Lal Chowk in Jammu and Kashmir during peak militancy, contrasting it with current calls for similar acts in Delhi, highlighting the party’s historical commitment to national unity.
