Banaras Hindu University is organizing its 105th convocation on December 12. This time, 29 students including 20 girl students will be given gold medals and a total of 13,650 students will be given degrees. NITI Aayog member Dr. V.K. Saraswat will be the chief guest.
In the cold morning of Varanasi, Kashi Hindu University is once again preparing to create history. In the courtyard of Swatantrata Bhawan, the moment awaited by thousands of students after years of hard work and penance is taking shape, the 105th convocation ceremony of BHU. This is not just a program of distribution of degrees, but a celebration of those dreams which have been transformed into reality by the light of education.
Gold medal to 29 talents including 20 girl students
A total of 29 students will be awarded gold medals in the 105th convocation of BHU, which includes 20 girl students. This achievement is proof of the university’s tradition in which talent, hard work and dedication are given the highest place.
About 13,650 students will be awarded degrees this year. The program will be telecast live on the official YouTube channel of the University so that the families of the students can also be a part of this special moment.

NITI Aayog member Dr. V.K. Saraswat will be the chief guest
BHU Vice Chancellor Prof. Ajit Kumar Chaturvedi said that this time the chief guest of the ceremony will be the country’s eminent defense scientist and NITI Aayog member Dr. Vijay Kumar Saraswat. His name is written in golden letters with the missile development programs in DRDO.
Under his leadership, many projects that gave new direction to the country’s strategic capability were completed, such as-
- Missiles like Agni-5, Dhanush, Prithvi and Prahar
- Two-tier ballistic missile defense system
- Initial operational approval of INS Arihant
- Establishment of Cyber Security Research Center
- National Supercomputing Mission
He has been awarded Padmashree (1998) and Padma Bhushan (2013) for his contribution in these areas of science and technology.
Convocation attire and preparations in final stages
Examination controller Prof. According to Sushma Ghildiyal, the distribution of traditional convocation dress, Safa and Uttariya is continuing systematically at the faculty level. This time the university is trying to ensure that the entire event is completed with discipline and dignity.
A total of 29 medals will be awarded from the stage at the ceremony-
- 2 Chancellor’s Medal
- 2 self. Maharaja Vibhuti Narayan Singh Gold Medal
- 25 BHU medals
Degree distribution will run from 12th to 14th December
After the main function, different programs will be held in different faculties from 12 to 14 December. The details of the degrees awarded by the university this year are as follows-
- 7,364 graduates
- 5,459 postgraduates
- 712 phd
- 4 M.Phil.
- Doctor of Science in the Faculty of Medicine
A total of 554 medals will be awarded across all the streams.
