Fresh off the reveal of its all-new , Nissan is supposedly taking the mojo it has picked up with this model and using the ePower powertrain to hybridize much of its lineup by 2030. Instead of chasing fully electric cars or gas-only models, the Japanese manufacturer is supposedly chasing hybrids as the brand’s main focus.

that Nissan is working on a new V6 hybrid as part of the brand’s push to use hybrids as the “primary powertrain” for US sales by the 2030 model year. This change in positioning – Nissan was once slated to focus on electric vehicles, but has since is a bit of a surprise, but not entirely so.
EV sales in the USA are a tricky thing to navigate, what with the ongoing debacle involving the current administration’s attempt to pull the rug out from under the fully electric market. Meanwhile, with skyrocketing gas prices – so buyers want something that splits the middle ground. It’s basically the hybrid’s time to shine.
New for 2027 is Nissan’s third-generation e-Power engine, a hybrid setup that will first debut in the all-new Rogue Hybrid. Nissan says they expect it to account for 30-40 percent of Rogue sales. It’ll be supplemented by a Kicks e-Power model, and we don’t doubt it’ll either be the only powertrain or an available powertrain in most Nissans going forward.
Long story short, Nissan is hedging its bets that hybrids are the way forward. We don’t disagree.
