- Three new categories which were added last year will be included this year, Open University, Skill University and State Public University.
New category in NIRF rankings this time too
The Ministry of Education has informed that a new category has been added this year. That is Sustainable Development Goals (SDGS). SDGS are actually 17 global goals, which aim to create a better and durable future. It also includes issues like quality education and equality for all.

Last year’s NIRF ranking 2024 at a glance
- IIT Madras was number one in the overall category.
- The second place was to IISC Bengaluru and the third IIT Bombay.
- IIT Madras topped the engineering category as well.
- In the medical category, AIIMS Delhi finished first, Pgimer Chandigarh second and CMC Vellore third.
