Actress Nina Dobrev has embraced Italy’s famed food culture during her latest getaway, joking that gluten is “safe” in the country as she shared glimpses of her holiday on social media.
Dobrev took to Instagram to post a series of pictures from her Italian trip, featuring plenty of pizzas and pastas as well as a gondola ride. Alongside the images, the actress playfully addressed the popular perception surrounding Italian food.
“Can confirm the rumours are true. Gluten is safe in Italy,” she wrote in the caption.
Dobrev is best known for her performances as Elena Gilbert and Katherine Pierce in the supernatural drama series The Vampire Diaries. She began her screen career with minor film roles before landing her breakthrough as Mia Jones in Degrassi: The Next Generation.
She subsequently rose to international prominence with The Vampire Diaries and went on to appear in films including The Perks of Being a Wallflower, Let’s Be Cops, The Final Girls and Flatliners.
Her biggest commercial success came with xXx: Return of Xander Cage. She has also starred in romantic comedies such as Dog Days, Then Came You and Love Hard, besides leading the sitcom Fam.
Dobrev’s recent work includes the action thriller The Get Out, directed by Derrick Borte. The film stars Russell Crowe, Luke Evans, Teresa Palmer, Danny Zovatto, Josh McConville, Dobrev and Aaron Paul.
The film follows a nightclub owner who is robbed by masked gunmen and comes under pressure from ruthless cartels. Hoping to leave his dangerous past behind and retire peacefully, he instead finds himself caught in a deadly web of deception, power and survival.
