Nidhhi Agerwal hits back at Sivaji’s remarks: ‘Blaming the victim is manipulation’

Nidhhi Agerwal reacts to Sivaji’s remarks: Fresh controversy has erupted in Telugu cinema after actor Sivaji made remarks that appeared to place responsibility on Nidhhi Agerwal following a recent mobbing incident. The comments were made during a press conference held in Hyderabad on Wednesday, triggering sharp backlash across social media and the film industry.

The incident in question took place on December 17, when Nidhhi Agerwal visited Lulu Mall in Hyderabad for a song launch linked to her upcoming film The Raja Saab. Visuals from the event showed the actor being surrounded by a large crowd, with security personnel struggling to escort her to her vehicle. The footage captured her visibly shaken as she managed to get inside her car.

Following Sivaji’s statements, Nidhhi responded publicly for the first time. A photograph from the event was shared on her social media account, accompanied by a pointed caption. “Blaming the victim is called manipulation,” she wrote, without directly naming Sivaji. The post was widely interpreted as a clear rebuttal to the actor’s remarks.

What did Sivaji say about Niddhi Agerwal’s mob incident?

At the press meet, Sivaji reiterated his views on actresses dressing “modestly” at public events. When questioned about why accountability was not being placed on the men in the crowd, he responded, “Who will listen? He says he will still talk to her or click pictures.” He further claimed that his remarks were not intended to blame either Nidhhi or Samantha Ruth Prabhu, despite repeatedly linking attire to public behaviour.

Sivaji also referenced a separate incident involving Samantha, who was reportedly mobbed during a store opening on December 21. Addressing that episode, he said, “Samantha had the advantage; she was luckily in a saree. Gen Z do not know better, they want to touch artists. Even Sridevi was once touched in Tenali when she was shooting there. I am not blaming Samantha or Nidhhi for it. All I am saying is, they need to be careful. What if Nidhhi’s clothes had slipped? Nobody would even remove the video if we asked them to.”

As reporters continued to challenge his stance, Sivaji cited other actresses, stating, “A lot of people asked on social media if anyone ever touched Sai Pallavi, Anushka, Soundarya, Bhumika, or Laya and Meera Jasmine? They all dress modestly. Do not provoke; men will feel like they can touch you when you do so. Why give them that opportunity? Dress however you feel like, but I am just pointing out facts.”

The remarks have continued to draw criticism, with several voices calling out the narrative for reinforcing victim-blaming.
