News9 Global Summit

News9 Global Summit 2025: The echo of India’s economic strength and global leadership was heard in the city of Stuttgart, Germany. The occasion was the second edition of TV9 network’s prestigious ‘News9 Global Summit’, where luminaries from across the world brainstormed on the strengthening relations between India and Germany amidst the changing global order. In this special summit, there was a session where everything from US President Donald Trump’s tariff policies to free trade agreements were openly discussed and an attempt was made to understand how India and Germany together can show a new path to the world in this era.

Golden opportunity for India-Germany

The topic of a very important session of the summit was ‘Free Trade Agreements and Tariff Wars: The India-Germany Advantage’. In this, stalwarts like Joachim Eardley, member of the Board of Managing Directors of LBBW, Sachchidanand Shukla, Group Chief Economist of Larsen & Toubro, State Counselor Kaspar Sutter and Professor Sachin Kumar Sharma expressed their frank opinions. The gist of the discussion was that when the world is struggling with protectionist policies and tariff wars, India and Germany can emerge as two strong pillars of stability and development. On one side is India’s huge market and growing consumer power, and on the other side is Germany’s industrial and technological mastery. Experts believed that together the two democratic countries can not only withstand supply chain shocks, but can also give a new, reliable direction to global trade.

‘Economy grew 13 times in 30 years’

During this, Sachchidanand Shukla, Group Chief Economist of Larsen & Toubro, presented a brilliant picture of the Indian economy. He told with powerful figures, “India’s economy has grown by 6% in the last 30 years. This simply means that our economy has become 13 times bigger in 30 years.” He further said that during this period, there has been a tremendous jump of 9 times in per capita income, whereas during the same period in America this figure increased only 4.7 times. These figures are proof of how long and fast India has taken a leap of development and why it remains a shining star in the eyes of the world today.
