The second edition of News9 Global Summit 2025 started on Thursday in Baden-Wurttemberg, Germany. On this occasion, former Vice President of the European Commission Gunther H. Oettinger, while speaking on the topic Baden-Württemberg: Where Innovation Meets Enterprise, praised India-Germany relations. He said that this forum is a great opportunity to give a new direction to the discussion and partnership between the two countries. Oettinger said, I congratulate the organizers of this wonderful event. It is very important to have such a platform where prominent people from India and Germany come together to share ideas and talk about future possibilities.
Increased trust between India and Europe
Talking about the picture of the future world, he said that during the pandemic, the world is going through many difficulties, full of selfishness, instability and economic challenges, but still it is moving forward on the basis of technology and innovation. He said that China will become more high-tech in the coming years and will emerge as a big economy.
Ottinger said that India is a strong democratic country, where more than 140 crore citizens live. At the same time, Europe and Germany are also walking on the path of democracy. He said that relations between America and Europe are now becoming complicated, especially due to Trump’s policies and trade sanctions. Despite this, a relationship of like mind and trust can be formed between India and Europe.

Speaking on China’s policies, he said that China is not a democracy but a dictatorial system, which wants to dominate Asia and the world. In such a situation, partnership between India and Europe becomes even more important. Praising the young generation of India, Ottinger said that Indian IT experts, engineers and doctors are making their mark in the whole world. Germany and Baden-Wurttemberg also have high-tech industries, global companies like Mercedes, Bosch, SAP, which can cooperate with India.
He said, cooperation between the two countries can create a win-win situation. For India, partnership with Germany can be more stable and reliable than China, America and Russia. At the end of the summit, Oettinger said that there is immense potential for India-Germany cooperation in areas like sports, trade, automobile, digital services and investment. He said, this is just the beginning, we have to take it forward in the best possible way. Together we can play an important role in the world of tomorrow.
