Biggest update yet for Hilux
The ninth-generation Hilux represents the most comprehensive update for Toyota’s global pickup. It adopts an entirely new design inspired by Toyota’s global “Tough & Agile” philosophy, featuring a more upright front fascia, bold TOYOTA lettering across the grille, sleeker LED headlamps, redesigned bumpers and new LED tail lamps.

Inside, the cabin has received a significant overhaul with a more modern dashboard and improved technology. Key highlights include a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a fully digital instrument cluster, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, connected car technology, wireless charging and a 360-degree camera.
Proven diesel engine retained
Unlike some international markets that now offer electrified versions, the India-spec Hilux continues with the familiar 2.8-litre four-cylinder turbo diesel engine. The engine produces 204 PS and up to 500 Nm of torque, paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission. Four-wheel drive is offered as standard on the top-spec VX variant and optional with the GX trim.

Toyota launched the new Hilux in India at the end of July at a starting price of Rs 31.99 lakh, with the range extending to Rs 36.69 lakh (ex-showroom). Three variants are on offer — GX 4X2 AT, GX 4X4 AT and VX 4X4 AT. The pickup also gets Multi Terrain Select (MTS), Downhill Assist Control (DAC), TPMS, dual-zone climate control and seven airbags, making it more feature-rich than its predecessor.
With deliveries now underway, the updated Hilux continues to take on the Isuzu V-Cross while strengthening Toyota’s presence in India’s premium lifestyle pickup segment. Soon it will have a new rival, in the form of , which is all set to make its debut today.
