New Suzuki 250cc Debuts – New Design, Winglets, VVA, 30 PS

New   GSX250R has now broken cover in the Chinese market and is likely to make its way into global markets as well. We could not help but wonder whether this could be the halo mainstream car for Indian market, even though reworked Gixxers are said to be in the pipeline to replace the current models.

New Suzuki GSX250R

The 250cc Gixxers by Suzuki are some of the most underrated motorcycles on sale in India. Both of them have consistently found themselves further down the sales charts of their respective segments. 150cc Gixxers have seen similar fate as well, signaling that systematic redesign might work in the company’s favour.

New Gixxers for Indian market have been reported, but the just debuted China-spec Suzuki GSX250R looks like it could be suitable for Indian tastes. For starters, this new GSX250R is currently China-only and is jointly manufactured by Suzuki and Haojue. China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology documents have uncovered this new quarter-liter supersport.

For starters, the new GSX250R looks like it is slightly inspired by the mighty Hayabusa, which is not a bad thing in any way. We can see this inspiration in the fascia while the rest of the body takes a supersport silhouette, while the Busa is a sport tourer. There are front winglets in the fascia, which should add some downforce to help this supersport achieve tighter turns.

ORVMs are mounted on the fairing and we can see an aerodynamically shaped front windshield as well. Rider’s triangle looks like it is committed, which is expected from a supersport. Handlebars are likely to be low-set clip-ons and then we have rear-set footpegs, which will help rider load the front for better traction.

The step for rear pillion looks a tad higher which will induce difficulties during ingress and egress, but should allow for better comfort on longer rides. Speculations suggest that this new GSX250R might even get a TFT instrument cluster with Bluetooth connectivity and connected tech like navigation, music controls and more.

New SOHC Engine With VVA

Cycle parts of the new Suzuki GSX250R include RSU telescopic front forks, mono-shock rear suspension, front and rear disc brakes, dual channel ABS, 17-inch alloy wheels, fat tyres and others. The engine is expected to generate around 30 PS of peak power and and will come with variable valve actuation for more top-end performance, while retaining the simpler SOHC setup.
