The 7-seater SUV segment in India is getting more crowded by the day, and now another carmaker is ready to join the fight. This Japanese brand has been testing a bigger version of its recently launched SUV, and it has now been spotted again. The new spy shots are the clearest yet and reveal several new details. In today’s article, let’s talk about this upcoming Rs. 17 lakh 7-seater SUV.
New 7-Seater SUV Spotted Testing Again

Here’s the seven-seater version of the Nissan Tekton. This is the second time it’s been spotted. We covered the first sighting a few days ago, but those pictures didn’t reveal much. This time, we can see the SUV up close.
Let’s talk straight away about the changes. At the front, the bumper has been redesigned with a new lower-central grille. The big highlight is that the bumper appears to house two millimetre-wave radars, suggesting a more advanced ADAS setup than the five-seater. The headlamps and the inverted L-shaped LED DRLs look similar to the Tekton’s. At the rear, the taillights are completely new, with a connected design that looks very different from the Tekton’s.

The test prototype is fitted with 18-inch alloy wheels that look different from the Tekton’s. The tyres are also beefier. The width is the same at 225 mm, but the profile is 60 mm, compared with 55 on the five-seater. The wheelbase seems unchanged at 2,657 mm, which means the extra length has gone into the rear overhang to make space for the third row.
Interior & Powertrain

The cabin hasn’t been spotted yet, but we can make a few guesses. The seven-seater will likely carry forward the Tekton’s features, including the panoramic sunroof, a 10.1-inch infotainment touchscreen, a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display, auto AC, and ventilated front seats. Nissan could add a few premium features like rear sunshades and a wireless charging pad to justify the higher price.
Under the hood, expect the same 1.3-litre turbo petrol engine as the Tekton, which makes 163 bhp and 280 Nm. Nissan might skip including the 1.0-litre turbo petrol mill, as it may be underpowered for this SUV. Transmission-wise, it should offer a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed wet DCT automatic. We don’t expect an AWD system or a strong hybrid for now.
Expected Launch & Price
Nissan has not announced a launch date yet. With testing just beginning, we expect the Tekton 7-seater to arrive in 2027, priced between Rs. 17 lakh and Rs. 25 lakh (on-road, Mumbai). It will rival the Hyundai Alcazar, Mahindra XUV 7XO and other models in that space. The Tekton has not yet given Nissan the sales boost it needs; the seven-seater version could be an important bet for the brand.
