New MG S6 EV Revealed Ahead Of Global Launch – Here Are The Details

The first images of the upcoming MG S6 EV have appeared online ahead of its official Global launch. The images were revealed in the latest round of Euro NCAP crash tests.

The new electric SUV will sit above the smaller MG S5 EV in the brand’s global lineup and has already made a powerful impact with a five-star safety rating.

At first glance, the MG S6 EV looks quite similar to the S5 EV, as it features sleek low-set headlights, triangular daytime-running lights and a full-width LED light bar at the rear. The design gives it a futuristic and premium look that blends sporty styling with family-friendly practicality.

From the inside, early pictures show that the S6 carries a digital instrument cluster and modern steering wheel design taken from the S5. While detailed interiors aren’t fully visible, it is expected that the S6 will offer more cabin and boot space which will make it ideal for daily commutes, long trips and family use.

According to Euro NCAP, the S6 has a kerb weight of 1,908 kg and comes with two-wheel drive, most likely powered by a single rear-mounted electric motor. Reports suggest that it could use the same motor as the S5 which produces 228 bhp and 350 Nm of torque that is capable of accelerating from 0-100 km/h in around 6.5 seconds. However, because of its larger size, the S6 may be slightly slower.

Battery details are not yet confirmed, but as this EV is new, expectation is that MG will offer a larger battery pack than the S5’s 62.1 kWh unit, which delivers up to 288 miles (463 km) of range. This could help the S6 compete with rivals like Hyundai Ioniq 5.

In terms of pricing, the S6 EV is expected to fall between the S5 and the premium IM6 models which offers a strong mix of space, performance and safety. With a five-star Euro NCAP rating and advanced EV technology, the MG S6 is ready to shape up to be a promising new electric SUV for everyday drivers.
