JSW MG Motor has released the first official teaser of its upcoming SUV, confirming that the first vehicle based on its new ADAPT platform will be an all-electric model. The teaser carries the message, “ADAPT takes its first electric form“. While MG has not officially revealed the name, all indications point to this being the upcoming Hector Hawk, a name that was trademarked earlier and is expected to debut later this month.

First ADAPT-based SUV confirmed as EV

At the unveiling of its  ,MG had confirmed that the architecture is capable of supporting multiple powertrain options including battery electric (BEV), plug-in hybrid (PHEV), strong hybrid and range-extender setups. The latest teaser now confirms that the platform’s first production application will be in pure electric form.

The teaser image reveals only the silhouette of the SUV under a cover, but its upright proportions, long wheelbase and SUV stance  and the globally sold Wuling Starlight 560, which is expected to serve as the base for the India-spec model.

What the teaser reveals

Although most of the vehicle remains hidden, the teaser provides a glimpse of the SUV’s overall proportions. It appears to have a tall bonnet, upright front fascia, roof rails and a large greenhouse, indicating a family-oriented SUV.

Previous spy shots have already revealed several design details expected on the production model. These include rectangular headlamp housings with slim LED DRLs, a closed-off front grille for the EV, sculpted body cladding and a clean, modern profile. The SUV is also expected to get connected LED lighting at the rear and large alloy wheels.

Expected to rival Mahindra XEV 9S

Based on earlier information, the electric version of Hector Hawk is expected to use a front-mounted electric motor producing around 204 PS and 310 Nm. It could be paired with a 69.2 kWh LFP battery pack, offering a claimed driving range of around 530 km (CLTC cycle).

DC fast charging support is also expected, with the battery capable of charging from 30% to 80% in around 20 minutes under ideal conditions. Final India-spec battery capacity and certified range will be announced closer to launch. A plug-in hybrid version is also expected later. It could combine a 1.5-litre petrol engine with an electric motor and around 20.5 kWh battery pack, delivering an electric-only range of approximately 125 km and a combined driving range of over 1,000 km.

Spacious cabin with premium features

The India-spec SUV is expected to be offered in a three-row, seven-seat configuration. Earlier spy shots and global specifications suggest features such as a 12.8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, digital instrument cluster, panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats, wireless charging, premium audio system and Level 2 ADAS.
