Mahindra recently launched the much-awaited 2026 Thar 3-Door, with prices starting from Rs. 12.50 lakh (on-road, Mumbai). Most people were expecting the update to be just a facelift with a handful of new features. However, the 2026 Thar 3-Door, now called the ‘Thar OG’, is a new-generation model with major changes. It comes with a new-generation chassis, new suspension, more powerful engines, electric power steering, revised exterior and interior styling, new colours, and more features.
2026 Mahindra Thar OG On-Road Prices In Top 7 Cities
The Thar OG is available in three trims: AXT, LXT & ZXT (new top trim). The entry-level AXT trim is available as a single variant only, with the 1.5-litre diesel engine. The remaining two trims are available with all three engine options, both gearbox options, and with RWD and AWD. As a result, the Thar OG is available in 15 variants! Here’s a look at the 2026 Mahindra Thar OG’s on-road prices in the top 7 Indian cities. For easier understanding, we have divided the pricing into two tables. The first lists the prices of the Thar OG Rear-Wheel-Drive (RWD). For this, we have considered the entry-level 1.5 Diesel MT AXT variant and the top-spec AT variants of the LXT and ZXT trims.

Should You Buy The Thar OG?
Compared with the outgoing model, the Thar OG starts at the same price. Moreover, the top-spec Thar OG is priced lower than the top variants of the outgoing version. Sounds too good to be true? There is a catch. These prices are introductory and apply to all deliveries only until 30th November 2026. After this, the prices will be revised – to what extent, we do not know yet.
So, if you are planning to buy the Thar OG, it’s best to take advantage of the introductory prices. But even after the price revision, we think the Thar OG will remain well priced. We say this because of major advancements in ride quality, handling, ease of driving, interior and NVH refinement, and more powerful engines. It is still a no-nonsense SUV that is good off-road and even better for city use now.
