New Hyundai i20 Debuts Globally — Packed With Creta-Level Tech and ADAS

What’s Actually Changed — Outside, Inside and Under the Skin

The exterior of the new   i20 gets H-shaped LED DRLs, a full-width light bar at the front, rectangular headlamps along with a revised hexagonal grille. The rear-end sports connected taillamps. Dimensions are 4,130 mm long and 1,780 mm wide with a 2,580 mm wheelbase — meaningfully larger than the current India-spec i20. Boot space stands at 346 litres and 17-inch diamond-cut alloys feature on the top variants.

New Hyundai i20 Interior

Inside, the dual 12.3-inch setup covers both the infotainment screen and the instrument cluster. The new i20 is the first Hyundai in Brazil to get a 5G embedded chip and OTA software updates — a feature set that currently sits in Creta and Alcazar territory in India. Wireless charging, an electronic parking brake, Bluelink connectivity, USB ports front and rear, physical AC buttons as well as an emergency SOS button are all part of the package. The steering wheel carries Hyundai’s new quad dot logo and gets paddle shifters.

The new K3 platform uses a higher proportion of high-strength steel and is built to support turbocharged and hybrid powertrains — both of which matter for what India could eventually get.

ADAS, Engine and the India Angle

The ADAS suite covers blind spot collision avoidance, forward collision avoidance, lane keeping assist, lane following assist, leading vehicle departure alert and intelligent speed limit assist. Standard safety includes six airbags, electronic stability control, hill start assist and TPMS. That’s a more complete safety package than anything currently available in the India-spec i20.

The Brazil market gets a 1.0-litre turbocharged flex three-cylinder engine making 115 hp and 172 Nm with a 6-speed automatic. India will get a different engine lineup — the 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol and 1.0-litre turbo-petrol are both expected to carry over with the K3 platform’s hybrid compatibility leaving the door open for future additions.

Brazil pricing for the new-gen  i20 runs from approximately Rs 18.77 lakh to Rs 26.29 lakh at current exchange rates. India pricing will be significantly lower given local manufacturing, but the technology step-up from the current model is substantial regardless of market. The i20 that comes to India will be a different car from what’s on sale today — this Brazil launch confirms that.
