Defense Minister Rajnath Singh and CM Yogi will flag off the first missile consignment from Lucknow’s BrahMos unit. This step will prove to be a milestone in the direction of making UP the new defense and aerospace hub of India.
Lucknow, 17 October. Lucknow, the capital of Uttar Pradesh, is going to create a new history in the field of defense production on Saturday. Defense Minister Rajnath Singh and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will flag off the first batch of BrahMos missiles manufactured from the BrahMos Aerospace Unit at Sarojini Nagar. This day will not only be a milestone for the Uttar Pradesh Defense Industrial Corridor (UPDIC) but will also give a new direction to the resolve of self-reliant India.
BrahMos Aerospace: World’s fastest supersonic missile maker
BrahMos Aerospace is the manufacturer of the world’s fastest and most accurate supersonic missile system. Its Lucknow unit has now successfully prepared the first batch of missile system. This state-of-the-art Integration and Test facility became fully operational after being inaugurated on 11 May 2025. All modern arrangements for missile assembly, testing, and final quality check are present here. After successful testing, these missiles are sent for deployment to the Indian Armed Forces.
The program will feature several major events and performances
During the event, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will inaugurate the booster building and see a demonstration of the booster docking process. Along with this, presentation of PDI (Pre Dispatch Inspection) and BrahMos simulator equipment will also be done in Airframe and Avionics Building, Warhead Building. Apart from this, there will also be tree plantation, storage trolley demonstration, GST bill presentation, and demonstration of mobile autonomous launcher.
On this occasion, DG (BrahMos) Dr. Jayateertha R. Joshi will hand over a check and GST bill to the Chief Minister, which will generate revenue for the state government. Production of BrahMos missiles will provide continuous GST income to Uttar Pradesh and increase employment opportunities for highly skilled youth.
One of the biggest projects of Defense Corridor
The BrahMos unit located at Bhatgaon in Sarojini Nagar is one of the most ambitious projects of the Uttar Pradesh Defense Industrial Corridor. Here the assembly, integration, and testing of missiles is done as per international technical standards. With the departure of the first consignment, Uttar Pradesh has become a strong partner of the ‘Make in India, Make for the World’ campaign.
This unit is the first such facility in the Defense Corridor, where the entire process from manufacturing of the missile to final testing takes place in India. Apart from being strategically important, this project is also creating new opportunities for employment, investment and technological innovation in the state.
Uttar Pradesh will become India’s aerospace and defense manufacturing hub
BrahMos Aerospace has rapidly expanded its production capacity to meet the growing requirements of the Indian Armed Forces. This manufacturing center in Lucknow will not only meet the requirements of the Indian Army, but will also be able to handle the demands of the international export market in future.
