Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has launched a new Aadhaar app, which will also work with the old mAadhaar app. The new app is much better than the old app in terms of security and privacy. What is special in the new Aadhaar app?
- Biometric Lock: Now your Aadhaar data will be opened only through your fingerprint or face recognition.
- Privacy-First Sharing: You can share only name and photo, mask date of birth, address or other sensitive information as per your need.
- QR Code Verification: Now paperless and instant KYC can be done through Aadhaar QR code.
- Usage History: In the app, you can see when and where your Aadhaar was used.
- Offline Mode Access: You will be able to access your saved Aadhaar data even when there is no internet.
- Family Profile Management: The digital ID of up to 5 family members can be added to the same phone and managed.

How to download and setup the new app?
- Search “Aadhaar” in Google Play Store or Apple App Store.
- Open the app and select a language.
- Enter 12 digit Aadhaar number.
- Verify with the OTP received on the mobile number linked to Aadhaar.
- Perform face authentication and set a 6-digit security PIN.
