LONDON: Egypt star Mustafa Zico’s reaction after losing to Argentina in the quarter-finals of the FIFA World Cup is a topic of discussion among football fans.
While admitting that Messi is the best player of all time, Zico stated that Cristiano Ronaldo will always be the greatest for him.
“Messi is the greatest player in football. But only after Cristiano. Because I like Cristiano Ronaldo a lot. When I went out on the field, I didn’t even realise that Messi was there,” Zico said.
Zico had come out strongly against the referee’s decisions after suffering a surprise defeat against Argentina in the quarter-finals. Zico alleged injustice from the referee throughout the match. He said that the match officials ruined the efforts of an entire country.
