The shift indicates the increased attention Netflix pays to children’s programmes, which are one of the most popular streams in recent years. The platform is also launching new preschool series, refreshing long-standing popular shows, and fortifying its library with reliable educational material with great parental controls.
Netflix playground brings interactive play to kids
The new Netflix Playground application enables children to play games that are founded on such popular titles as Peppa Pig and Sesame Street. The application is free of advertisements, safe and comes without in-app purchases with offline gameplay, which is easy to carry around or have on-the-go entertainment.
Children are offered such activities as puzzles, colouring, storytelling, and mini-games with characters of Dr Seuss stories and Netflix originals. The application is already offered in some countries and will be implemented in the rest of the world later this month.
New shows and returning favourites
Netflix has also declared a new collection of shows for young preschoolers. Young MacDonald is a new musical series that will bring farm-based adventures, which are centred on creativity and solving problems. Meanwhile, such hits as Trash Truck and The Creature Cases are going to come with new seasons.
It also has more episodes of CoComelon Lane, Ms Rachel, and Gabby Dollhouse and science-based programming by Mark Rober.
Upcoming releases and key dates
Netflix has already ensured a list of future releases within the next several months. Some of them are new Sesame Street specials in April, CoComelon Lane Season 7, and Dr Seuss’s Horton! Season 2 in May. The platform will also premiere Gabby’s Dollhouse: The Movie and will proceed to release more learning and entertainment content until the summer.
The additions will focus on making learning and fun go together to provide children with a combination of storytelling, music, and interactive play.
Netflix has remained focused on parental control to assist families. These are children-only profiles, maturity setting customisation, title restrictions and activity tracking options. This is aimed at providing freedom to children to explore content and leave parents in charge.
As it grows, Netflix is becoming a one-stop shop of entertainment for kids, combining streaming, gaming, and learning in one platform accommodating younger users.
