An emotional phone call conversation from the disaster-hit Uttarkashi district of Uttarakhand has gone viral on the internet, where a Nepali man, one of the survivors of the disaster, shared the final conversation with his son before he went missing. The Nepali man, identified as Vijay Singh, recalled his final phone call with his son, who said he was helpless and wouldn’t survive and subsequently went missing after a cloudburst hit the valley. Singh and his wife have requested the government to take them to Harshil Valley, so that they can find their children themselves.
‘We Will Not Survive’, Vijay’s Son After Cloudburst Hit Uttarkashi
Vijay Singh is a migrant labourer from Nepal, who completed the task and left Harshil Valley in Uttarakhand’s Uttarkashi on Tuesday along with his wife, Kali Devi, moments before a cloudburst triggered flash floods, claimed the lives of at least five people and left several missing.
The couple were among the 26 migrant labourers who came from Nepal for road and bridge construction work in the Valley. According to Vijay’s wife, Kali Devi, they were the ones who left for Bhatwari on Tuesday, and a day later, none of the remaining 24 members were reachable.
“When we left the valley, we never thought that such a disaster would hit the region. Had I known about the impending floods, I would not have left my children behind. “I appeal to the government to take us to Harsil Valley. We will find our children ourselves,” Devi said.
