Nepal President Ramchandra Paudel has announced that within the next six months, elections will be held on 5 March. The announcement was made after the protests, Jane Z, in which 51 people lost their lives and more than 1,300 people were injured.
Nepal Elections: Nepal President Ramchandra Paudel announced on Saturday that elections will be held within the next six months. Paudel said that elections will be held on 5 March 2026. People should cooperate for this. The President said, “After a difficult and harsh struggle, a peaceful solution has come out in the very uncomfortable, hostile and terrible situation of the country. The Constitution has been preserved. The parliamentary system has been preserved. The federal democratic republic has been established. People have got an opportunity to move forward on the path of a more advanced democracy by holding elections of the Representatives within 6 months.”
Elections will be held in Nepal on 5 March 2026
The President said, “Therefore, I appeal honestly to cooperate in the work of conducting the elections on March 5 by making people happy with all parties and using the opportunity received very cleverly.” Earlier in the day, Nepali citizens gathered to carry out a candle march outside the Buddhist Right on Saturday evening in memory of those who lost their lives during the recent anti -corruption protests across the country. People, students, monks, activists and local residents of all regions lit candles and stood silently to show solidarity with the victims.
Case filed against KP Sharma Oli
Meanwhile, Nepali Congress MP Abhishek Pratap Shah on Saturday lodged an FIR against former Nepal Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli through Kapilvastu Chief District Officer Dilkumar Tamang.
This has come after a large -scale GenZ protests after social media ban and alleged corruption. Due to this, Oli had to resign.

Sushila Karki knows the condition of injured protesters
Nepal’s interim Prime Minister Sushila Karki arrived at the civil hospital on Saturday to meet the injured Jane Z protesters. A large number of presses and supporters were seen around the Prime Minister’s convoy. The Ministry of Health and Population confirmed that 51 people have died so far in the youth -led demonstrations across Nepal on 8 September. Out of these, 30 died of bullet, while 21 died of burning, wounds and other injuries. Ramesh Thapa, co-owner of Nepal Police, said an Indian citizen and three policemen were among the dead.
