A tourist bus in Nepal fell into the Trishuli river while going from Pokhara to Kathmandu. 18 people have died in this tragic accident, which included many foreign nationals. There were more than 35 passengers in the bus.
Kathmandu: A major road accident has occurred in Nepal, in which 18 people lost their lives. Here a tourist bus going from Pokhara to Kathmandu fell into the river. The accident occurred around 1:15 am on Monday at a place named Chindhara near Charaundhi in Benighat Rorang Municipality. The bus fell directly into the Trishuli river. District Traffic Police Office Chief Shishir Thapa has confirmed the death of 18 people.
Highway Rescue Management Committee Chairman Rajkumar Thakuri said that 25 people injured in the accident have been admitted to the hospital. According to the information, there were more than 35 passengers in the bus at the time of the accident. Many foreign tourists were also included in these.
As soon as information about the accident was received, teams of Nepal Army, Armed Police Force and Nepal Police reached the spot. Rescue operations were carried out in collaboration with local people. Officials said that due to darkness of the night there were many difficulties in the rescue operation. More information about the accident is still awaited.
The bodies of the deceased have been sent to Gajuri Hospital for postmortem. This bus belonged to ‘Prithvi Highway Bus Operator Company’ and had left from Pokhara for Kathmandu at 7 pm on Sunday evening. It is being told that the owner of the bus, Om Kumar Shrestha was also in the bus and he has also died in the accident. Meanwhile, the bus driver is missing and is being searched.
