Neeraj Chopra, who won a silver medal in javelin at the 2026 in Glasgow, is gearing up for his next competition.
He will participate in the Lausanne Diamond League on August 21.
The Lausanne Diamond League will feature some of the world’s top javelin throwers alongside Chopra. This includes athletes who have clinched Olympic and World Championship titles.
In addition to Neeraj Chopra, the current Olympic champion Arshad Nadeem from Pakistan, Sri Lanka’s Ramesh Pathiraja, who recently won gold at the Commonwealth Games, Trinidad and Tobago’s Keshorn Walcott, and Grenada’s Anderson Peters will also compete.
Fans can expect to see various throwing techniques and styles at Lausanne. The competition promises to be challenging and thrilling. Peters’ meeting record of 90.61 meters may be at risk.
Swiss athlete Simon Wieland, who has been making impressive progress, along with the last two European champions-Tokyo Olympic silver medalist Jakub Vadlejch from the Czech Republic and Germany’s Julian Weber-are also confirmed to participate. American athlete Curtis Thompson, currently ranked second in the world, will be a strong contender for victory.
Reflecting on the javelin results from the Glasgow , Sri Lanka’s Ramesh Pathiraja won gold with a remarkable throw of 89.75 meters despite challenging windy conditions. Neeraj Chopra secured second place with a throw of 85.83 meters. Yashveer achieved his personal best of 85.41 meters, earning him a bronze medal. Meanwhile, Arshad Nadeem’s performance was disappointing, finishing ninth with a throw of 77.41 meters. Peters came in fourth with a throw of 83.88 meters.
In the Diamond League standings, 2022 champion Neeraj currently sits in seventh place with five points, while Pathiraja and Peters have already qualified for the finals with 23 points each.
