Neeraj Chopra will kickstart his 2025 season on Friday (May 16) when he takes part in the Doha Diamond League at the Suheim bin Hamad Stadium in Doha.
Neeraj will be one of two Indians take will take part in the Javelin Throw competition alongside Kishore Jena, who had rose to fame with a silver medal in the 2023 Hangzhou Asian games.The competition will see an extremely strong field with 11 athletes taking part. Neeraj will compete against the best javelin throwers in the world as Anderson Peters, Jakub Vadlech, Julian Weber, Leshorn Walcott, Oliver Helander, Roderick Genki Dean, Max Dehning, and Ahmed Sameh Mohamed Hussein are also taking part. Neeraj will kickstart the 2025 season with the hope of winning his second Diamond League title. However, he will be aiming to kickstart preparation for the 2025 World Championships as he aims to defend his prestigious title after securing gold in 2023. This year’s edition will take place from September 13 to 21 at the Olympic Stadium in Tokyo, the site of Neeraj’s historic Olympic gold in 2021. Neeraj will also aim to finally breach the 90m mark in the 2025 season.Overall, 4 Indians are taking part in the Doha Diamond League with Gulveer Singh (Men’s 5000m race) and Parul Chaudhary (3000m steeplechase).
