Nayanthara’s first paycheque: Actress earned Rs 2,000-3,000 before becoming South cinema star

Nayanthara is now among the most successful actresses in South Indian cinema, but her journey began with a much smaller paychequeThe actress recently opened up about her first job and revealed that she earned only around Rs 2,000 to Rs 3,000 for her first assignment. During a conversation with Pearle Maaney, Nayanthara was asked about her first job and the salary she receivedRecalling her early days, she said, “I think it was for Vanitha’s cover shootI think I was called for a fashion program.”

She then revealed that she was paid around Rs 2,000 to Rs 3,000 for the assignmentPearle also shared a funny memory from her childhood and said, “I had got Rs 500 for cutting my father’s nails.”

How Nayanthara started her acting career

Nayanthara did not initially plan to become an actorShe was working as a model when filmmaker Sathyan Anthikad noticed her photograph in Vanitha magazine.

He later approached her for Manassinakkare, which marked her acting debut in 2003She went on to appear in films such as Vismayathumbathu and Natturajavu before making her Tamil film debut with Ayya in 2005.

Nayanthara is currently preparing for the release of Hi, her upcoming Tamil romantic drama with KavinDirected by debutant Vishnu Edavan, the film is scheduled to release in theatres on August 28, 2026. She will also be seen alongside Yash in Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups. Directed by Geetu Mohandas, the film is set to hit theatres on August 26, 2026.
