After Blockbuster Mana Shankara Varaprasad Garu with Megastar Chiranjeevi, Lady Superstar Nayanthara has had a disappointing year at the box office, with three of her recent projects failing to meet audience expectations. Despite choosing films with interesting concepts and promising roles, the actress has struggled to deliver a commercial success, resulting in a hat trick of setbacks.
One of the major projects associated with Nayanthara was Yash’s Toxic, in which she was expected to play an important role. Her association with director Geetu Mohandas created considerable buzz, especially after reports suggested that she was impressed by the story and her character. However, developments surrounding the project and its release did not turn out as expected.
Nayanthara later appeared in Hi, but the film also failed to generate the expected response from moviegoers. Her latest release, Mookuthi Amman 2, which reached Telugu audiences under the title Mahasakthi, has also struggled to attract attention. Directed by Sundar C, the film arrived in Telugu theatres without much promotional activity, affecting its visibility among local audiences.
Despite Nayanthara’s performance, Mahashakthi received a mixed to negative response, with criticism directed at its storyline and execution. The limited promotions and lack of strong word of mouth further affected the film’s prospects. Even as a producer, Nayanthara Faced flop with LIK directed by her husband Vignesh Shivn. Once known for delivering successful films across Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam cinema, Nayanthara is now facing questions about her recent script selections.
