Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Konkona Sen Sharma Break Silence On Deepika Padukone’s 8-Hour Work Debate: She Is Progressive

Deepika Padukone recently became the center of controversy after her reported exit from Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s upcoming film Spirit due to disagreements over paychecks and working hours.

Since then, several actors have spoken either in favor of or against the debate, sharing their personal views on the issue.

Amid this, now recently Bollywood’s actors Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Konkona Sen Sharma have highlighted their take, during different interviews.

Nawazuddin Siddiqui shares his take on the debate

During a recent interview with India Today, acclaimed actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui mentioned, “I don’t know much about it. I’m yet to read about it in detail. Jo comfortable ho, jitne hours comfortable ho, sabke liye hone chahiye. Jisme aap na thake aur apna kaam bhi aasani se karke chale (whatever is comfortable and is as comfortable as possible, should be for everyone. It should be in a way that keeps you from getting tired and allows you to easily complete your work).”

Konkona Sen Sharma calls it ‘progressive’

During a conversation with Filmygyan, Konkona Sen Sharma called Deepika Padukone’s concern ‘progressive’ as she said, “I feel she is very progressive, and we need many more people like her. I think there should be some rules in the industry. We can’t work for 14-15 hours. We should have a 12-hour turnaround. We should have at least one day off in the week, especially for the technicians. It should be equal. It shouldn’t be like male actors are coming late and are working late and women are leaving their children and working for long hours. It should be equal.”

For the unversed, Deepika has exited Spirit, and later director Vanga replaced her with Triptii Dimri. After her exit, Vanga shared a cryptic tweet implying that Deepika had rejected his film’s script and accused her of playing “dirty PR games.”
