Navratri 2025 is in full swing, and Day 4 of the festival celebrates Maa Kushmanda, the fourth form of Goddess Durga. She is said to be the creator of the universe and radiates positivity and prosperity.
The colour of day 4 of Navratri is yellow.
The Importance Of Day 4: Maa Kushmanda Katha
According to Hindu scriptures, after taking the form on Siddhidatri, Goddess Parvati started living inside the sun to radiate cosmic energy, which gives her the name Kushmanda (“Ku” (little), “Ushma” (warmth), and “Anda” (egg), signifying the cosmic egg from which the universe was born). She is shown with eight hands holding weapons, lotus, rosary and kamandal, which also makes her the Ashtabhuja Devi. Since she is the goddess of cosmic energy, she is also associated with fertility and childbirth.
Maa Kushmanda Puja Vidhi
After getting up early, light a desi ghee diya and offer shringar (red chunri, red bangles) and red flowers to Goddess Kushmanda. After this, invoke the goddess by reciting her mantras and doing her aarti.
