Uttar Pradesh Natural Farming: Yogi Adityanath government has intensified the work in mission mode. So far, natural farming has been expanded in about 94,300 hectare area in all 75 districts of the state. The government aims to take it to one lakh hectare soon. In this campaign, priority has been given especially to Bundelkhand region, where it is being developed as a model project. The main objective of the government is to create a sustainable agricultural system by reducing dependence on chemical farming.
Bundelkhand Natural Farming Model: Cow-based farming in 23,500 hectares
A special program of cow-based natural farming has been started in 23,500 hectare area in Jhansi, Lalitpur, Jalaun, Hamirpur, Mahoba, Banda and Chitrakoot districts of Bundelkhand. The aim of this initiative is to provide more profits to the farmers by reducing the cost of farming. Emphasis is being laid on improving soil health and making production sustainable through the use of natural resources. The government wants Bundelkhand to become a successful example of natural farming.
Low cost, high profit: Emphasis on Jeevamrit and Ghanjeevamrit
The government is promoting the ‘low cost, high profit’ agriculture model. Traditional organic measures like Jeevamrit and Ghanjeevamrit are being used in natural farming. This will reduce dependence on chemical fertilizers and pesticides, which will reduce the cost of farming and increase the income of farmers. This model is considered especially beneficial for small and marginal farmers.

According to Shyam Bihari Gupta, Chairman of Uttar Pradesh Cowseva Commission, natural farming strengthens the structure of the soil and increases its water holding capacity.
